Research is here, research is done
Coastal research at Melbourne University studies the processes that shape the landforms and the human interactions with the coasts.
The lab is unique in that every coastal type is considered a laboratory for understanding coastal theory. Research is undertaken on coral reefs, estuaries, mudflats, sandy beaches, pebble beaches, rock platforms, saltmarsh and mangroves.
Coastal research can be classified under the following themes:
Coastal evolution
Climate Change
Hydrodynamics
Risk and Human interaction
